Special education isn't just my profession, it's personal.

As the mother of three children, two of whom have disabilities, I’ve spent years learning how to navigate the special education system. I connected with other parents, attended training courses, and worked with local advocates as I figured out how to best support my own children. Over time, what began as my own learning process grew into helping other families find clarity, confidence, and their voice as well.

Those experiences eventually led me into full-time family advocacy work with a national nonprofit organization, and today I continue that work in my own practice in East Tennessee.

As a college professor for more than 15 years, teaching has been a consistent part of my professional life. It has shaped how I approach everything I do, especially the ability to take complex information and make it understandable and usable for others.

My goal is simple: to help families feel empowered, informed, and confident as they advocate for the supports and services their children need.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Shannon’s guidance changed everything.
